Official Rules

No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited. Read all contest rules. Entries that do not adhere strictly to these rules and judgments will not be judged.

1. Eligibility restrictions

  1. Entrants must be New York City public high school students who are nineteen (19) years of age or younger who meet the following criteria: (1) must reside in any of the five (5) boroughs of New York City; and (2) must be currently enrolled as New York City public high school students (grade 11) (2) Entrants may not be employees of CBS Radio, Inc. (the "Administrator"), or their parent, subsidiary or affiliated companies, their advertising agencies, participating sponsors/promotional partners, and the members of their immediate families. (Sponsors and Administrator shall be collectively referred to as the "Sponsors".)
  2. Entrants are required to provide truthful information and 1010 WINS will reject and delete any entry that they discover to be false or fraudulent.

2. How to enter the contest

  1. The Tomorrow's Newsmaker's Awards (the Contest) will begin on Feb 15, 2008 and end on October 10, 2008(the contest dates).
  2. Participants must submit an official entry form. Entry forms will be accepted via US mail and/or email. All entries must be received by July 18, 2008, 12 midnight. The paper on which all entries are submitted shall become property of the Awards Entities and no submissions will be acknowledged or returned. All submissions should be mailed with sufficient first class postage to : 1010 WINS Tomorrow's Newsmakers Awards-Business c/o 1010 WINS, 888 Seventh Ave, 10th Floor, NY NY 10106 or downloaded and submitted at newsmakers@wins.com
  3. Sponsors are not responsible for entries not received due to network service outages or delays, computer difficulties or any other technological glitches, or for lost, stolen, misdirected, late, illegible, incomplete or mutilated entries by mail.
  4. Only one (1) entry per person will be permitted

3. Submission instructions

  1. Forms must be completely filled out clear and convincingly and supported with evidence if desired. By submitting a form, applicants certify that information submitted is truthful and applicants are who they say they are and not infringing upon the rights of any third parties.

4. Prizes

  1. One grand prize-One person will be designated the honor of 1010 WINS Tomorrow's Newsmakers Winner –Student Category and be given a $10,000.00 scholarship payable to the college of the winner's choice. Grand Prize scholarship payment must be made directly to the Grand Prize winner's accredited post-secondary institution of higher learning (college or trade school) and must be paid by 12/31/09 at the latest.
  2. There is no substitution or transfer of prizes. The prizes are expressly limited to the item(s) listed above and do not include taxes or any other expenses. Other restrictions may apply. All taxes, fees and or costs incurred in winning or to claim the prize and any other expenses not specified are the sole responsibility of the winners.

5. Selection of winners

  1. Decisions of 1010 WINS with respect to the contest are final.
    At all levels of judging, submissions that adhere to the guidelines will be judged with special attention to academic achievement, after-school activity, must show desire to enter a broadcasting/journalism career.
  2. A panel of judges selected by 1010 WINS will review the submissions and select five (5) semi-finalists in the arts and entertainment category. A second panel of judges will select the grand prize winner along with a People's choice vote. The People's Choice vote winner will be counted as one judge's vote. The People's Choice vote will end on October 8, 2008.. 1010 WINS reserves the right not to award a prize or any prizes when submissions do not meet contest standards or criteria.
  3. 1010 WINS will notify nominees via US mail and/or overnight courier and/or phone and/or email on or around August 3, 2008. Nominees and (or their parent or legal guardian if nominee is a minor) must execute and return any required affidavits of eligibility/release forms within 10 days of notification attempt or prize will be forfeited and an alternative winner may be selected. Nominees must be available to come to 1010 WINS studio to be interviewed for radio and internet broadcast. Additionally, nominees must provide a photograph for potential publication in NY Post and on-line at 1010 WINS.com
  4. Winners will be announced at 1010 WINS Tomorrow's Newsmaker's Awards Ceremony on October 10, 2008 Winner need not be present to win.

6. Conditions:

  1. The winners agree to have their essay, name, or voice used or published in whole or in part in any advertising or broadcasting material relating to this contest without additional financial or other compensation, and, where legal, to sign a publicity release confirming such consent prior to acceptance of the prize. If the winner is under the age of majority in his/her state of residence, the winner's parent or legal guardian will be required to provide such consent.
  2. Prior to awarding any prize or prize certificate, 1010 WINS in their sole discretion may require contest winners and/or the custodial parent or guardian of contest winners to sign a liability release agreeing to hold NY Post, CBS Radio Inc., and each of their parent, subsidiary or affiliated companies, their advertising agencies, participating sponsors/promotional partners, and the officers, shareholders, directors, employees, agents and representatives of each of them harmless against any and all claims or liability arising directly or indirectly from the prize or participation in the contest, provided that any such release shall not apply to intentional misconduct.
  3. 1010 WINS reserves the right to make changes in the rules of the contest, including the substitution of a prize of equivalent value, which will become effective upon announcement.
  4. Failure to comply with the contest rules may result in a contestant's disqualification, solely at the discretion of 1010 WINS. 1010 WINS, in their sole discretion, reserve the right to disqualify any person tampering with the entry process, the operation of the 1010wins.com website or who is otherwise in violation of the rules. 1010 WINS further reserves the right to cancel, terminate or modify the contest if it is not capable of being completed as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention or technical failures of any sort.
  5. 1010 WINS is not responsible for typographical or other errors in the printing, the offering or the administration of the contest or in the announcement of a prize.
